INTRODUÇÃO
Segundo Marjorie Perloff, em Unoriginal Genius: Poetry by Other Means in the New Century, os trabalhos de Kenneth Goldsmith, Caroline Bergvall, Christian Bök, Craig Douglas Dworkin e Susan Howe, entre outros, ilustram uma resposta contemporânea a uma poética expressiva, de índole confessional e criativa, que tem vindo a apresentar-se sob muitas formas desde o período romântico, propondo, no seu lugar, uma poética não-expressiva, de reinvenção, citação e tradução, com o recurso ao uso de constrangimentos formais e estratégias de apropriação textual. Perloff afirma que as mudanças recentes trazidas pela tecnologia que revolucionaram os media, como o advento da Internet, tornaram obsoleta a figura do génio romântico isolado, fazendo emergir uma versão atualizada da noção de génio, o génio não-criativo, baseada na capacidade de mover, manipular e disseminar informação. O poeta contemporâneo, movimentando-se num ambiente de hiperinformação, vai assemelhar-se mais a um programador ou a um curador do que a um génio torturado.

Segundo Marjorie Perloff, em Unoriginal Genius: Poetry by Other Means in the New Century, os trabalhos de Kenneth Goldsmith, Caroline Bergvall, Christian Bök, Craig Douglas Dworkin e Susan Howe, entre outros, ilustram uma resposta contemporânea a uma poética expressiva, de índole confessional e criativa, que tem vindo a apresentar-se sob muitas formas desde o período romântico, propondo, no seu lugar, uma poética não-expressiva, de reinvenção, citação e tradução, com o recurso ao uso de constrangimentos formais e estratégias de apropriação textual. Perloff afirma que as mudanças recentes trazidas pela tecnologia que revolucionaram os media, como o advento da Internet, tornaram obsoleta a figura do génio romântico isolado, fazendo emergir uma versão atualizada da noção de génio, o génio não-criativo, baseada na capacidade de mover, manipular e disseminar informação. O poeta contemporâneo, movimentando-se num ambiente de hiperinformação, vai assemelhar-se mais a um programador ou a um curador do que a um génio torturado.
